After years of researching various lasers we have found the best and most state of the art laser hair removal system! We chose the diode laser because it is the “gold standard” laser for predictable, long term hair reduction/removal. Unlike other lasers and unlike IPL, this laser will provide you with the consistent proven results. Diode lasers are more effective with less discomfort than IPL and other lasers. It uses a single wavelength of light that has a high absorption rate within melanin, which disrupts the blood flow to the hair follicle to prevent regrowth of the hair in the area treated. Each treatment reduces hair growth, overtime resulting in smooth, hairless skin.
FAQ
How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal uses laser energy which targets melanin in hair (the color or pigment in the hair). The pigment absorbs the energy, thus damaging the hair follicle. This damage to the hair follicle slows and eventually inhibits hair growth.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
While results of laser hair removal can vary, most patients will experience a significant reduction of hair growth with 4 treatments and a complete loss of hair growth with 6 treatments!
What’s a laser hair removal treatment like?
Laser hair removal is quick and minimally uncomfortable. The treatment time varies depending on the area and amount of hair removal being performed, but generally the treatment will take a few minutes to an hour. During the treatment the area of skin will be cleaned and prepped. The patient will be given goggles to wear to protect their eyes. The treatment will consist of a feeling of warmth to the skin with a slight stinging sensation. After the treatment, the skin may feel warm and mildly sensitive, which usually lasts for less than an hour.
How do I prepare for a laser hair removal treatment?
Before your laser hair removal treatment, it is recommended to shave the area being treated. Also, you will want to avoid sun exposure for several weeks prior to treatment. Our office will provide you with pre-and-post instructions when you book your appointment.
Will I experience any side effects?
The most common side effect following treatment is mild skin irritation or sensitivity for roughly 24 hours. You may also notice hair in the treatment area will fall out and regrow. Other side effects are rare but may include redness, blisters, bruising, pigmentation changes, and scarring.
Are there any contraindications for having the procedure?
We require patients to fill out a thorough medical history prior to any treatment to ensure safety. This will be sent to you before your appointment so that we can determine candidacy before you come into the office. As such, patients with the following conditions unfortunately are NOT candidates for treatment:
– Patients that have been treated waxing or electrolysis to the area of treatment within 6 weeks
– Patients with active infection, lesions, or open wounds in area of treatment
– Patient having history of photosensitive disease or taking a photosensitizing medication within the last 3 months
