Chemical Peels

WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL?

A chemical peel is treatment that can be applied to the face, neck, chest, or hands. It is formulated with a type of acid that when applied essentially dissolves on the most superficial layer of skin. The strength of the peel depends on the acidity level and type of acid used. Chemical peels help even out and brighten our skin complexions. These types of peels should be done by a licensed trained professional for the best results.

WHAT IS A TCA PEEL?

A TCA peel or trichloroacetic acid is a stronger, more concentrated peel that works by breaking up keratin that is found in your skin, thus allowing for that outer layer to shed or peel. As the layers of damaged skin are removed a healthier and smoother skin is revealed. These types are peels are helpful when treating acne scars, melasma, sun damage, hyperpigmentation and fine lines and wrinkles.

WHAT IS A GLYCOLIC PEEL?

A glycolic peel works with glycolic acid, a naturally occurring acid that can be found in fruits! Glycolic acid can also be found in many skin care products. This is one of our gentler peels, you do not necessarily peel significantly since this type of acid does not penetrate on a deeper level, unlike a TCA peel, but you should still see amazing results. Glycolic peels are mainly used to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells. They are also used to treat sunspots, hyperpigmentation, blemishes, fine lines, and wrinkles.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER MY PEEL?

With any chemical peel, no matter the intensity, you should always remember to stay out of the sun and use protective gear post peel. After a peel you may also notice redness and peeling but all completely normal. Make sure to avoid touching or peeling-off your skin while using a mild cleanser and avoiding any exfoliating skin care products.
