Labia Reconstruction • Plastic Surgeon Newport Beach • Los Angeeles • CA

Our Labiaplasty procedure can sculpture the elongated or unequal labial minora (small inner lips) according to ones specification. Most women tell us that they do not want the small inner lips to project beyond the large outer lips. Some women with large labia have pain during intercourse because the lips actually get "pulled in." Large or asymmetrical labia can cause chafing and discomfort during everyday activities or while wearing certain clothing, such as pants.

Before and after photos of this procedure are available during a consultation.

Q: What is a labiaplasty?

A: A labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that can improve the physical appearance of the labia, as well as any functional issues that present from large labia such as

Q: Does it hurt?

A: Labiaplasty is a procedure that a patient may be able to have performed while just being numbed, often referred to as a local anesthesia. In order to get the patient numb, a series of injections are made into the area to be operated on. Once injected, the area will be completely numb. A patient may experience pressure, but the patient should not experience any pain.

Q: What is the recovery like?

A: Recovery is actually fairly easy for this procedure. A patient may return to showering 48 hours after the procedure. Sutures will be absorbable and will stay buried under the surface of the skin. Patients may feel some stinging sensations, but should not feel any extraordinary amount of pain. Sexual intercourse may resume as normal within 3-6 weeks after the procedure depending upon how a patient is healing.
